We have survived the first two weeks of school! Thank you for helping your child adjust to being back and learning the routines of a new classroom. Thank you for all the donations you have sent to our class!
A few things to get us started this year...
1. Box Tops--We are always collecting box tops to help raise money for our school. Be on the look out and send them in with your child.
2. 7 Habits--This year our school is learning and implementing The Leader in Me program. We have introduced the 7 Habits in our class and I expect your child to work on these at home as well as at school. Please familiarize yourself with the habits and use the vocabulary in your home.
3. Room Mom--Thank you to everyone who signed up to help in our class this year. We are still looking for a parent who would be willing to be our room mom and head our class parties (you will have plenty of support and help from other parents) and a few other responsibilities from the PTA. Let me know if you are interested and your schedule permits.
4. Homework--Your child should be bringing home a planner each night with their homework written in it. Please help them to Put First Things First and get their homework done. Spelling will start next week (August 12) and your child will have spelling homework each night. Along with spelling they have a math sheet. The following day in class we take a 5 question quiz with questions pulled from their math homework. This quiz insures that your child understands the concept that was taught the previous day. On Friday, the quiz has questions from the whole week as a review of all the concepts taught. Along with spelling and math, your child needs to read 30 minutes each night. They will get a reading minutes slip on Monday and it needs to be turned in the following Monday in class. It must be signed by a parent. This does count on their grade. Your child also needs to practice their multiplication facts each night. Flashcards were sent home for this. Please use these flashcards. They help your child with accuracy. Facts need to be memorized!
Thanks again for your support at home! Together we can make this a successful year for your child!
